Vapour Trail became established throughout 2005, firstly as a solo acoustic act. As well as playing support to Inspiral Carpets frontman, Tom Hingley and Mark Morris of Bluetones fame, repeat bookings were also secured at renowned venues like London’s Filthy MacNastys and the Half Moon in Putney. Having finished the "Extended Play" EP in January 2006, Rob Davies decided to expand Vapour Trail into a 4-piece band, partly to complement the layered arrangements of the recordings, and partly just to make a racket.
