There are two artists called Van Raven. 1) VAN RAVEN - a Tasmanian based Dutch alt rock musician, and 2) Van Raven. 1) VAN RAVEN, the stage name of independent alt rock artist Denise van den Berg (she/her), was born in The Netherlands in 1980. She moved to Tasmania, Australia in 2006. She started writing her own music in November 2024. Her first single is called “Stuck” and was released in December 2024. Her latest track is called “Where Did All the Humans Go?” and was released in January 2026. “Where Did All the Humans Go?” is a punk rock/pop punk track that sounds like it came straight out of the year 2000. “Stuck” is a blend of alt rock and dream pop. VAN RAVEN’s future singles will lean more alt rock, she says, but she’s always influenced by darker pop and metal sounds. VAN RAVEN’s work explores the darker edges of emotion through alternative rock with punk, darker pop and metal influences. Her music balances vulnerability and tension, and her distinctive contralto voice resists conventional expectations of female vocals. Her songwriting moves through themes of love, lust, spirituality, and identity, often touching on the metaphysical while questioning modern ideas of perfection, control, and self-presentation. After writing her first song in November 2024 and completing a Certificate IV in Music in 2025, she continued writing and releasing original material independently.
