Artist
Valor Kand is the current vocalist/guitarist/songwriter of Christian Death, an American deathrock/goth rock band once fronted by Rozz Williams. He is an ex-lover of Gitane Demone, with whom he has two children, Sevan Kand and Zara, the godchildren of the late Rozz Williams. After the break-up of the Only Theatre of Pain era Christian Death, Rozz Williams joined Pompeii 99, a band at the time fronted by Valor Kand and lover, Gitane Demone. Soon after, Pompeii 99 had planned for their first American/European tour. At the same time, Invitation Au Suicide, a French label responsible for the release of Christian Death's Deathwish EP offered Valor the opportunity to record an album with them in Europe before the start of the tour. There was one condition, change the band's name to Christian Death. Valor did not want to change HIS band's name, nor did Rozz want to be reminded of a band he distasted. Seduced by money, they had changed their name and entered a studio to record Catastrophe Ballet, the birth of Christian Death Official, and marked a shift from Rozz's straight forward Punk Rock to a more rich, melodic sound, thanks mostly to Valor's musicianship (All Christian Death Official songs were written by Valor Kand, lyrics were written by Rozz Williams on two albums). They then appeared on the BBC's Media Blitz, perform a show at the Batcave, and, of course, have financial deals reneged upon, leaving the band stranded penniless in France. Valor had kept Rozz from killing him
