Artist
There are two bands which share the name "Valley of Kings". 1. The band "Valley of Kings" was formed in 1982 in New Haven, Connecticut with Ron Sutfin on bass and backing vocals, Kerry Miller on drums and backing vocals, and Gabriel Cohen on guitar and lead vocals. They released their 7" vinyl "Happy Hour" b/w "What I wouldn't give" in 1983 and got a 4 star review in Sounds Magazine of England. The album released in 1985 quickly rose to #8 in the country on the national college radio charts like CMJ, Rockpool, and Boston Rock and was a "Jackpot" pick in CMJ due to the excellent promotion provided by Nick Cucci, Scott Gordon, and Ira Robbins of Thirsty Ear Records of NYC. The band went on 2 national tours of the south and the mid-west playing such well know clubs as The 40 Watt Club in Athens GA, The Underground Railroad in Morgantown West Virginia and The Electric Bannana in Pittsburg PA. Below is the cover of the 7" Happy Hour. 2. Valley Of Kings is a three-piece from the Central Coast, NSW that consists of Matt Lynch, Jake Brennan and Tom "Hunter" Beasley. After playing together for a few years, V.O.K began playing local gigs and entering a variety of different competitions. Valley Of Kings have won several awards such as the Silverchair Best Original Songwriter Award 2011 and the Abdullah El Dannawi Award 2011 and have recently played at the Meatloaf and Thirsty Merc concert at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
