Valentin Haussmann (c.1570 - 1611/14). German composer. Worked as organist and town official in Gerbstädt (near Halle) but also travelled widely in Germany and Poland. He published eleven volumes of secular songs and German and Polish dances for instrumental ensemble, and also helped the spread of Italian music in Germany by publishing German-text editions of music by such composers as Marenzio, Vecchi and Gastoldi (works by Morley also received this treatment).
