Vale and Year is a two-piece band from Pittsburgh, PA whose music has been described as "understated indie-folk to squealing No Wave sax and wild experimental passages, incorporating everything from banjo to melodica" (Ed Masley, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). They have released five albums: Vale and Year Create A Perfect History, Vale and Year's Holy Music and Art, Civil, Cardinal, and Famous Fights. In addition, they have released three eps and a string of limited edition improvisational pieces. Over the three years of their existence, they have played shows with Wilco, Ted Leo, Prefuse 73, Early Day Miners, Okkervil River, Mary Timony, The Evens, On Fillmore, Tim Barnes, Mattin, Tatsuya Nakatani-Jack Wright-Michel Doneda, Grand Buffet, The Dirty Projectors, Keenan Lawler, Make Believe, Wolf Colonel, Mersault, and The Impossible Shapes.
