VGmates is a Slavic-Australian original band from Sydney, Australia. Even though the band’s general style can be described as folk or ethno-fusion, their music stands out from traditional folk as you know it. They absorb various countries’ styles and make them their own - distinctive and truly original. This six-piece band uses a lot of unusual ethnic musical instruments – vargan and balalaika, futujara and Armenian duduk, kalimba and ocarina, and much more! They love to experiment with new sounds and different styles and maintain a good balance of energetic rhythms and gentle meditative melodies, songs and instrumentals. They even use throat singing (a unique Siberian voice technique) in their compositions, which adds some spice to their music. The band performs songs in English and Russian languages.
