VanGarrett is a casual artist from California's Central Valley, who rarely makes music, but often writes fiction and develops role playing games. He is an avid fan of Sega's Phantasy Star franchise, and the author of the Phantasy Star Online fan fiction series, The Recollection Saga. He was initially drawn into making music by For Great Justice! (known as Spook Goblin at the time), who introduced him to Jeskola Buzz in the late 1990's, and proceeded to badger him into learning to use it over the following months.
