Somewhat un-mythical & not very faceless at all, Uxbridge Mens Choir exploded on the Hillingdon vocal scene late in perhaps 2007 or 2008 with their truly unlistenable cover of Madonna's Material Girl. This got picked up by Hayes FM local radio, who invited the whole choir down to the studio to perform some of their hits live for those lucky enough to be living within the broadcast radius of however many yards. Pete & The Pirates, Hayes FM favourites at the time, were clasping the single of the week accolade with the as-yet unreleased Mr. Understanding, so the UMC thought it apt to try their multitudinous hand at that little black number, resulting in their greatest hit to date (other than Material Girl). Following their spectauclar bust up live on Hayes FM later in that same broadcast, the UMC tearfully disbanded & there is very little rumour of a re-union, although they did all jump on stage at the Trinity in Harrow a few weeks ago and wow the audience with some classic rendish for Jet Tea's birthday.
