Artist
Blake Taylor (born April 6, 2010), professionally known as Uxban, is a rapper and producer from Hamilton, New Zealand. At 12, in 2022, he began making music under the name Blakeotaylor Music, but quickly evolved into one of the young, emerging voices in the hip-hop, rap, and trap scene. In his early years, Blake was experimenting with sounds, recording basic demos, and learning production at home. What started as curiosity became a deep creative drive. He eventually rebranded to Uxban — a name that reflected the darker, sharper, and more authentic direction his music was taking. In an informal Q&A, Uxban explained how the name came to be: "One of my friends, Harlem, was in social studies thinking of artist names and came up with 'Uxban.' It instantly clicked — it sounded different, matched my style, and also connected to the urban environment I come from, which influences a lot of what I create." When asked what sets him apart, Uxban replied: "I stay true to myself. I’m not trying to copy what’s trending. I talk about what I know, how I feel, and I’m always experimenting. I make everything myself, so when people hear my music, they’re hearing exactly what I intended." Uxban’s sound blends heavy, atmospheric production with raw, personal lyrics. Mixing emotion and aggression, his music offers a window into the mind of a young artist navigating life, pressure, identity, and growth. Each release pushes him forward as he continues defining his lane in the underground world.
