about

Urban Vitamin was founded in the year of the blue bellied salamander, aka 2004. The corridors of the band’s history are contrived and many heads have felt cold end of a pike, but despite multifarious mutinies four members remain: Cobus Nigrini (vox), Neville Botha (guitars and programming), Rick de Villiers (drums and vox) and Paul du Plessis (bass). The Pretoria quartet slots into the genre ‘Porncore’. They have been gigging all over Gauteng for the last 4 years, and have just released their first full-blown studio album online. Replete with 11 songs and a digital booklet, the package is an assault on the senses yet leaves no carbon footprint. According to an article published earlier this year in the arts magazine A Look Away, ‘the members all subscribe to a philosophy of frivolity. A purebred party band, they are always up for drinks, laughs, and making music that taps into the core of that irrepressible human impulse that is movement.’ Band Members: Cobus Nigrini Rick de Villiers Neville Botha Paul Du Plessis User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
