Urban Notion is a Drum n Bass collective based in Christchurch, New Zealand, with a shared passion for producing world-class original material, as well as fostering the burgeoning local scene. In a brief time, UN have gone from a group of young DJs with a vision, to an experienced production, performance and promotion team who are making a big impression – at home and abroad. It began 5 years ago. Inspired by the broad range of talent around them, DJs Switch, Rufio and Gamble began Urban Notion club nights. Hundreds of successful events later, UN’s knack for showcasing NZ talent alongside the biggest names in the international touring arena is redefining the live Drum n Bass experience for followers everywhere. As performers, Urban Notion are an experienced crew with depth and versatility. With a repertoire that spans the Drum n Bass spectrum, and the unique aspect of a live saxophone and MC combo, UN don’t pander to prescribed set formulas or subgenres. This approach has impressed audiences around the globe – UN members have played across USA, Asia and Australia. Last year, they embarked on a comprehensive tour of Europe which included a billing at DJ Friction’s Shogun night at The End in London.
