Through a myriad of guises and tonal expressions, Tijuana-bred Unsexy Nerd Ponies (Marco Antonio Jiménez Gallardo) embodies the eclecticism of border culture. A quintessentially post-modern artist, Jiménez Gallardo manages to reference everything from the rawness of late 70s post-punk, the DIY aesthetics of twee, the Nortec-cited regional sounds of northern mexico, the spaztic future-shock experiments of the Wham City collective, all for the sake of a killer hook.
