This is very much a band in the truest sense of the word; each member’s individual contribution is absolutely essential to the equation. They decorate the songs with longing strains of violin, pulsing, ethereal bass and guitar parts with a painterly restraint, and hovering keyboard arrangements. But watch out for the unreleased set closer “Interstate”: Think Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard set against the Midwestern emotional catharsis of Songs: Ohia.
