Un Départment is a trio of Marcel Kanche, Phil Gaz of Orléans and Bruno Tollard, they consist of drums, guitar, bass, synthesizer and voices. Their music comes from a rock angle, albeit a more experimental and improvised one. Its weirdness but not for the sake of weirdness, but to do something different in rock music, coming very much from post-punk, but without the aggression or violence. They instead borrow elements from European folk music, electronic music and mix it together with improvised rock elements, they had a great style of its own.
