Umenden is an experimental music collaboration founded by Maxim Abelev and Kagan Arik in 2007. Umenden explore music and sound manipulation as a technique of transformation. Umenden music is created through combination of repetitive and gradually shifting sound patterns with ritualistic improvisation. Along with computer-based synthesizers and extensively manipulated guitar soundscapes, Umenden frequently incorporates human voice and speech as an ingredient. Umenden have self-released two albums ("Broken Mirror" and "Red Wind"), along with selected live performance recordings.
