In northern Sweden you can find Umeå, and here you can also find Umeå student choir. The choir is the performing choir of Umeå University and dates all the way back to the fifties. In 1958, the choir was founded by two dentist students. During its first six years, the choir was a male ensemble, only to audition female vocalists in 1964. Today the Umeå student choir is a mixed choir with 45 students from all of the five faculties of the university, and the choir sings at the university's yearly feasts. Additionally, the choir arranges its own concerts yearly: one in spring, one in autumn and a whole weekend of Christmas concerts in December! The choir also engages in smaller concerts, singing at companies, parties, feasts, and so on. The choir has made four CDs: "En Studentskiva", "Wolcum Yole!", "Stilla sköna aftontimma" and the latest "Julsång".
