Ultra Milkmaids started in june 1993, consisting of three people. Y. (Yann Jaffiol) O. (Olivier Huz) and R. (Rodolphe Jaffiol) In january 1997 O. left and since 1998/1999 Ultra Milkmaids has mostly been Y., sometimes assisted by R. Before starting Ultra Milkmaids, the three played in a punk/hardcore band. After problems with the other members of that band, the borther Y. and R. and their friend O. started with Ultra Milkmaids. At first Ultra Milkmaids was very noisy, but after discovering other kinds of music and bands, the style ventured more into strange rock. Eventually, after discovering music like Coil and Maeror Tri, the style changed again towards more experimental and ambient sounds.
