Full Bio in English And Spanish | Biografía en Inglés y Español. • Ultrágeno was a Colombian band that started rehearsing in 1995 when Andrés Barragán (guitar) left the band “Yuri Gagarin” and teamed up with Juan Camilo Osorio (drums, and ex member of “Sol de Media Noche”). Later on Santiago Paredes (bass) was contacted. He was replaced by Ricardo Gómez for a while only to return in time for the recording of their debut in 1998 under the independent “Hormigaloca” records. This recording was financed under a Colombian Culture Award. The last member to be recruited was Amós Piñeros (ex lead singer of “Catedral”). After some rehearsals the band name was chosen. Ultrageno referred to an imaginary green gas intended to scare away ultraviolence and bad forces. It is said that Piñeros dreamt the name. Other ideas were: “La Sopita”, “La Neura”, and “La Hiedra”. The band made two records which proved to be a huge influence for angry youth. Based on the sounds of Rage Against The Machine as a major influence and other hardcore and industrial rock acts, the band gained an immense following, and split too soon to the dismay of many of their loyal fans (“Razafurians”). The band was part of several compilations (Subterranica, Tributo Bizarro a Soda Stereo) and released two studio Albums: Ultrageno (1998) and Código Fuente (2002). The Band broke up in 2002 and re-united for 3 shows in Bogota in 2007. All were succesful, especially Rock Al Parque. _______________________________ SPA
