Artist
Regrettably overlooked during their short existence, the hip-hop duo known as The UMC's were savvy and jazzy rhymesters in the style of 3 Feet High and Rising-era De La Soul. New Yorkers Hass G and Kool Kim melded clever raps, booty-bopping beats, and a plentiful palette of seductive samples into an irresistibly upbeat and imminently danceable sound. Amongst all the gangsta rappers shocking their way into the music publics attention in the early '90s, the happy, carefree funkiness of The UMC's was sadly never more than a blip on most hip-hop listeners' radar.
