Originating in alternative rock music, multi-instrumentalists Phil de Gap and Ahoi Boi finally found their new musical home in the style of electro by founding ULTRNX in June 2008. Heading into this direction was no real surprise: Phil de Gap already began programming his first sounds back in the mid-eighties' home computer boom („chiptunes“) and Ahoi Boi regularly got in touch with electronic music while working as a DJ for years. With their driving mixture of microsampling, catchy vocoder-lines and a sound that can thoroughly be described as „french“ ULTRNX quickly became treated as an insider tip among clubs in Germany, the UK, Canada and the US.
