There are at least two artists sharing the moniker Tzompantli; 1) Tzompantli is an American solo project of Brian Ortiz, member of Xibalba. Tzompantli is Mesoamerican / prehispanic Death / Doom Metal. Indigenous death doom. Tzompantli is Nahuatl for “skull rack” which was used for the public display of human skulls, typically those of war captives or other sacrificial victims. Tzompantli embodies the ritualism, spirituality and pride of the Mexica in our blood and sounds. 2) Tzompantli is a Mexican Folk/Power Metal band from Ciudad de México founded in 1989.
