Ty Kellogg's music reflects everything about the young man; simple, determined, gritty, strong and steady. When asked about his musical path, Kellogg said "it took me a long time to figure out my musical identity. For a long time I was writing songs and music that was very forced and very elementary. I was listening to a lot of indie-acoustic stuff and metal and hardcore and I think musically, I was very confused." "It finally started coming together when I started listening to what I was raised on - old country and old rock n' roll. I really got into Johnny Cash and Hank Williams and everything that they listened to - old gospel, blues, hillbilly, boogie-woogie." After taking a swig of his Wild Turkey and tea, he takes a look at the wall, shakes his head and said, "I knew that I wasn't going to be some blazin' guitar player that knew every scale and could sing like a bird and write beautiful catchy love songs. I understood early on that if I became famous, that it would be a freak accident. My songs are sad, they're angry and sometimes they're just borderline depressing - but I have fun. I have come to conclusion that music is just recycled - it's all the same concepts and story lines and the only thing that changes are the people in the story and the people that are telling it.
