Txütxükan are a folk band that draw influence from gypsy, Balkan and world music. Originating in Lille, France, the band has recorded one album, entitled Balkan Jig. A few years ago, in the old-town market of Lille, Joakim, Joseph and Dylan used to busk on Sunday mornings. At the end of the day they'd found they'd been given many precious treasures: saucisson, cabbages, encounters, etc.! Last November, Dylan got contacted by someone he had met two years earlier while performing in the streets, and who was looking for a clarinet teacher. Being reminded after such a long time by his new apprentice how 'awesome and genuine' those acoustic jazz and klezmer performances felt, he decided to call his partners again... Joseph and Joakim now live in Brittany, Dylan in Ireland, and Bruno, a friend, is building his cabin in the Basque country. Distances can be deceptive; however on the 28th of December an old van left France with four guys for a one-month trip with this one goal: record a CD!! 18 hours on the ferry 'Oscar Wilde': they sat down around the piano bar, and started playing. In Ireland they were amazed, everyone seemed to like music!! After two days playing together, they got their first gig in Cork on New Year's Eve, calling the band "Meskach" which means "Melt" in Breton. They play their own music with many influences: Gypsy, Balkan, and music from all around the world. The magical mystery tour had started… Guinness, gigs, parties, travelling around the West of Irel
