Twin Oaks is a Los Angeles dream pop band founded by core members Lauren Brown & Aaron Domingo along with drummer Marilyn Beltran. Sticking to their DIY roots, the band has self-produced and independently released their mini album The Lion’s Den, two full albums: White Noise and See You When I See You, and two EPs: Collapse and Living Rooms. Growing from their early bedroom folk beginnings, the band is known for interchanging each performance between hushed guitar notes to downtempo electronic to explosive post-rock crescendos. Following up from the band's previous efforts from the climatic post-rock and shoegaze elements revolved around See You When I See You, the latest EP title Lock & Key is a return to quiet contemplative form. Shifting sonic elements from Domingo's intricate and lush guitar layers and the band's shift from calming to explosive, Twin Oaks carries Lock & Key through quiet piano keys and tape loop layers as the backbone to Brown's emotion-laden vocals. Recorded entirely in Brown's home in Southern California through the midst of the 2020 pandemic and co-produced with Shaun Oppedisano, the band's fondness for sound design is heard through lofi undertones of age and nostalgia. Lock & Key is a lyrical shift, this time outwardly focused on interpersonal relationships and struggling to meet expectations. Lock & Key was released on February 19th, 2021.
