Turnip King is an American indie-rock/psych-punk band hailing from Long Island, New York. Formed in 2011 by Lucia Arias (guitar/vocals/songwriting), Christian Billard (drums, songwriting), Cal Fish (guitar, vocals, songwriting) and Nick Kivlen (bass). Within the first few months, they stablished a name for themselves in the underground Brooklyn music scene. Inspired by early 90's indie rock, vaporware, krautrock, and prog rock bands. Their end sound is described as loud shoegaze with dissonant punk and math-rock undertones. Their first official release was Moon Landing? (cassette release) in 2012 on the Brooklyn-based label, Fire Talk Records. Expected release titled, Bowow will include a reworked version of the single Metonymy (released 2011.) Turnip King has opened for acts like Ringo Deathstarr, Tonstartssbandht, DIIV, Bleached, and others.
