TruEvidence is the Christian Hip-Hop ministry of Amanda Vincent and Derrick Johnson--two energetic, spirit-filled musical artists who grew up in New Orleans, LA and became high school friends in 2001. They combined their talents to form TruEvidence in 2004, and began spreading the Word through music, to the youth of Louisiana. Separated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005--Amanda relocated to Memphis, TN, and Derrick to Houston, TX--they each focused on individual projects over the next two years. Then in June 2007, the two reunited; and TruEvidence has since ministered its brand of spiritually anointed music to churches around Memphis. The group has been busy appearing at youth rallies, ministering to children’s classes, and most recently, producing its debut album, which is scheduled for launch in the Summer of 2009. Derrick (‘Tru’) and Amanda (‘Evidence’) describe their music and methods as a bit out of the ordinary. Tru sings soulful vocals and plays most of the instrumentation; Evidence raps heartfelt lyrics, as the group’s M.C. and beat specialist--and they both share writing credits. The exciting synergy results in a fresh, dynamic crossbreed of Christian Contemporary and Hip-Hop sounds. As fearless, modern-day bringers of God’s message through the music of today’s generation, the mission of TruEvidence remains intact: To speak LIFE--Love, Inspiration, Faith, Encouragement--with a focus on reaching and inspiring young people everywhere.
