Trotting Bear is the musical alias of Andy Berkhout, a Wisconsin-born, St. Louis-based songwriter and collaborators Joanna Landis and John Donovan. The project began in the spring of 2011 when Berkhout recorded the Morning EP in his bedroom with one microphone and several cups of coffee. Originally conceived as a set of demos, the songs saw light as a digital release after a close friend encouraged him to share them. Trotting Bear strives to create music that is honest and warm. They favor simplicity over excess and invite their listeners to join them in a deep soundscape of melodic arrangements and flowing harmonies.
