Troll is a creative force who lives on Tilton Barrens, the salty rock-and-heather strewn moorland of the Avalon, which (as Anni Fewl No), is on the magical island of Newfoundland. Sometimes he enters the brain of a local boy by the name of Michael Collins (a Placentia native) and makes him do weird things with his vocal chords and his fingers. Their one-man collaboration is called Troll Collins. Troll Collins recently spent some time in Waterford, Ireland, which was very inspiring for him. Unfortunately, he had no access to a piano (his weapon of choice) for the entire 8 months he was in the Emerald Isle, and when he returned to his wind-swept Newfoundland home, he found the pianos there had all fallen lamentably out of tune. So now he just shrieks into random microphones while waiting for that situation to be remedied. His brother, a solid rock of a man named Peter (OMG I did not even make that up!), plays bass and generally criticizes him for being such a weirdo. Some people say Troll's voice sounds like Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode. Some say his music sounds like Lionheart-through-to-The-Dreaming-era Kate Bush. Troll's happiest musical moments were seeing Sarah Slean and the Dresden Dolls in concert over the past year, as he hero-worships both acts. Also, he was recently both pleased and dismayed to hear Patrick Wolf's Wind in the Wires album. Pleased as it is a very fine album indeed, and dismayed because it sounded just like the sort of music he himself had always hear
