Tribes of the City are known for their powerfully dense live sound, their hypnotic guitars and the singer's mesmerizing vocals. The layers of melodies and noise textures create almost tangible solid sonic forms. Formed back in 2003 they were the first shoegaze band in Latvia. The band reached local recognition for their 2004 record Running to the Sun. In 2006 they worked on their next album with Greg Haver who had previously produced Manic Street Preachers and Super Furry Animals. In 2007 Tribes of the City were nominated for MTV Music Awards as Best Baltic Act. All of their records gained praise from Latvian music critics and received multiple awards. The band has played shows and festivals in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Russian Federation, Lithuania and Estonia. In 2019, after a longer break they returned with new quality and power, releasing their most acclaimed record so far. The band is preparing for several special live shows in 2020. Current members: Ksenija Sundejeva - guitars, vocals; Sergejs Jaramišjans - guitars; Ivars Pommers - guitars; Jānis Liepiņš (Bēdu Brāļi) - bass; Ints Barkāns - drums.
