Artist
Trey Brown was born in Odessa, Texas, USA, and honed his musical craft while attending Pepperdine University in California. He eventually settled back in Austin, Texas. His first studio release, Smoke A'risin', was released to critical acclaim in the March of 2008. It combines Appalachia folk and Americana and melts country into the downtown city lights. Trey was a featured artist at the 2008 Kerrville Folk Festival and was recently selected to play SXSW in 2009. The inspiration for his folk, sometimes alt-country sound is credited to the likes of M. Ward, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Robert Earl Keen, and Townes Van Zandt. Brown himself describes his songwriting as "surfer-western" and performs frequently in Austin, acoustically and also with a full band.
