Toughness formed in Puławy, Poland in early 2020. The group originated from a more experimentally-oriented band - Conveyor. First lineup consisted of Bartek Domański (guitar, vocals), Ziemowit Chalciński (bass guitar) and Damian Jaworski (drums). The guys' vision of music fitted into the genre of extreme metal, however with some less obvious additions (eg. guttural vocals, distinct sound of the bass guitar etc.). The ideas were developing quickly, most of the material intended for a longplaying record was composed in 2020. Unfortunately, the prosperous development was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic. The global lockdown was quite a blow for a young, aspiring band, mainly due to the lack of gigs. The second blow was Michał's departure from the band in 2021. However, the band had no intention to cease, even in the worst of times. Soon the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel began to shine - concerts were back on the menu and a second guitar player joined the band - this role was filled by Łukasz Wojtowicz. In this 4-piece lineup Toughness stepped into Wesoła24 Studio in Lublin in order to record the material for their debut full-length album. 'The Prophetic Dawn' was released in 2022 via Godz ov War Productions. After yet another line-up change with the drum duties being handed to Maciej Gransztof, the second full-length album was released on the 28th of February 2025 via Godz ov War Productions.
