Tony LeMans was born on July 14, 1963 as Antony L. Fortier in California, US. A singer and songwriter associated with Prince and signed to Prince's Paisley Park Records. He adopted the last name "LeMans" as an homage for his father's love for the vehicle of the same name. Tony met with Prince in Minneapolis after leaving Los Angeles and was signed afterwards to Paisley Park Records soon releasing his only studio albums the self-titled debut album - Tony LeMans in 1989 featuring the singles "Higher The High", "Cookie Crumbles" and "Forever More" the album peaked at #58 on the Billboard R&B Album chart. Prince officially played no role in this albums production. His only live performance was on New Year's Eve at San Francisco's Moscone Theatre with his newly constructed tour band for his "Higher Than High" tour which was put on hold not long after. The tour being on hold he started working on various projects with his producer David Gamson and in early 1990 on his sophomore record for which Prince offered him the song "Fuschia Light", he also co-produced "Sure Lookin' " for Donny Osmond before his death and some work for The Rolling Stones' 1993 release Voodoo Lounge, one day before he was to be married to Deborah Matthews (Vanity's sister). LeMans was an avid motorcyclist and was killed in a traffic accident on June 24, 1992 in Malibu, California. His manager referred to him as " one of those acts that comes around once-in-a-lifetime".
