Before masks were the hottest fashion accessories and social distancing was a sign of true friendship, Toon Lissens and Wouter De Bock were just good friends who spent their time visiting crowded venues and discovering new musical inspiration all over Ghent (BE). Since 2006 Wouter, has been bringing his postrock passion to life with his band ’nobu.’, an allusion to the Japanese word for trust and joy, while Toon in 2012, began writing and releasing ambient songs as ‘Soals’, an atmospheric experience inspired by astronautics. With a global pandemic putting live concerts and same-room band rehearsals to a full stop, Wouter and Toon decided to combine their individual sounds and create new music on weekly basis as ‘Tone Listens’. Their first full album ‘Where.do.we.go.from.here’ was released in 2021, while still reeling from the impact Covid-19 had and has on our daily life, bundling songs and captivating sounds that evoke feelings of isolation, uncertainty, fear, and hope.
