Singer/songwriter Tom Spingler has been writing and recording songs for over 40 years both as a solo artist and within various musical groups. Spingler had already become an accomplished singer & guitarist in his late teens gaining notoriety within the industry before teaming up with Bob VanDyke, Andy Wirkmaa, Ray Monte (the son of the famous Lou Monte) and others to form The Everlovin'. Throughout the years, Spingler has performed with such acts/artists as: The Beach Boys, The Band, Emerson Lake & Palmer, The Association, Dion & The Belmonts, The E-Street Band, Connie Francis, Davy Jones (of The Monkees fame), and many more. The band Northfield was formed when Spingler teamed up with long time friend engineer/producer Bob Both, who had previously been teamed with James Brown, and producer/publisher Dan Maxcy to record and catalog some of his more 'country influenced' songs. After recording began, with Spingler handling acoustic/electric guitar and vocals, Bob Both on bass and Joe Vitello on drums, the idea was suggested by Maxcy that they bring in a few more key components providing a more full sound to the recording. Bob Van Dyke, by this time a well known and accomplished keyboard player in his own right, was called on to handle keyboards and vocals. Guitarist Kevin Kelley was added as another guitar as well as backing vocals rounding out the now legendary harmonic sound and completing the band.
