Artist
Ernestine 'Tiny' Davis was a trumpet player and vocalist, especially popular during the 1940s. She was part of the 'International Sweethearts of Rhythm', an all-women-band who played during and shortly after the Second World War at the greatest and popular theatres in both the US and Europe. They even did shows in the Deep South of the US, though they were musicians of different skin colour playing and living together. Although people tried to convince her to leave the band ( Louis Armstrong wanted her to play with him, as an example), Tiny stayed with the girls as long as the band existed. Tiny Davis was born in 1909 and died in 1994. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
