As a music critic for Patrol Magazine for over two years Timothy Zila understands the importance of criticism. But now, the tables have turned, and it’s time for him to sit back and reap the insights, criticisms, and any praise that such reviews might offer. Timothy has been writing songs and playing the guitar for about two and a half years now. He released his first EP, Close Your Eyes and Sing, for free download to friends and family earlier this year. His music has been likened to that of Bob Dylan, M. Ward, and a mellow mewithoutYou. I’ve Brought War is a mostly acoustic affair (the blaring exception is “Out of Time”, a ramshackle tune from an electronic chopping block) recorded, more by necessity than choice, with a palpable lo-fi sensibility.
