Tigist Ejigu (ትዕግሥት እጅጉ) was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Tigist Ejigu is an Ethiopian pianist and Gospel singer who discovered her love of music as a child. She had a keen musical ear, and when she was in the tenth grade, she enrolled at Addis Ababa's prestigious Yared Music School. Tigist demonstrated an uncanny ability to replicate on piano almost any piece of music she was given ear to. Her formal training at Yared exposed her to a wider repertoire of music, and both her technical proficiency and interpretive insight grew. As a result, she became a master of the tizita, bati, ambassel, and anchehoye lene modes of expression.
