Thunderbird Gerard (born Trevor Gerard Ferguson, aka ezra bang) is an American singer-songwriter, musician ,DJ, and writer. He began his career in 2004, after moving to Liverpool, as a session drummer for Welsh band The Mountaineers following their departure from Mute Records, contributing to their next EP and tour, including appearances at Carling Leeds Festival and Summer Pops supporting The Beach Boys. Later in 2005, he joined Super Numeri’s Snap Ant for a UK tour supporting electro act Ladytron. Establishing himself as a DJ and promoter in Liverpool, he released his first single, “Gesundheit Zeitgeist” in 2007 on local label Invicta Hi Fi Records. Relocating to London in 2008, he began working with former So Solid Crew member Ashley Walters. Walters released Ezra’s next single on his own AD82 Productions label. The single, “Erotic Adventures of John The Butcher” debuted on Steve Lamacq’s Radio 6 show and was followed by a UK tour supporting rap legends Public Enemy. Parting ways with Walters shortly after Bang established the Gold Swine imprint with band member Linus Jackson and Carina Steinmetz on which they released the next single “What U Cant’t Kill U Must Envy” produced by Spider J in April 2009. The single, released as a 7” white label received a large push as it was championed by Radio 6 presenter Tom Robinson and through music blogs.
