Throne of Chaos (later shortened to TOC) was a metal band from Espoo, Finland. Formed in 1995 and disbanded in 2005, their style radically shifted over time, encompassing subgenres such as melodic death metal, power metal, thrash metal, and even progressive metal with jazz influences. Throne of Chaos started out as a melodic death/power metal band with a neoclassical touch, not too dissimilar from Children of Bodom. This style is present on their 1997 debut EP Fata Morgana and 2000 debut full-length Menace and Prayer, both with Taneli Kiljunen on harsh vocals. Their sound changed drastically for second album Pervertigo, turning into a hybrid of thrash and power metal. Taneli Kiljunen was unable to sing during this period after damaging his vocal cords, which led to Pervertigo being finished with the help of two session vocalists, Niklas Isfeldt (from Dream Evil) and Pasi Nykänen. Shortly after the release of Pervertigo, the band shortened their name to TOC and began working on their third and final album Loss Angeles, released in 2003. For this album, their style changed yet again, this time to progressive power metal with jazz influences. Tuomas Nieminen was brought in on clean vocal duties while Kiljunen provided some harsh vocals. The band would eventually call it quits in 2005. Final lineup: Taneli Kiljunen - guitars (1995-2005), harsh vocals (1995-2002), backing vocals (2003-2005) Snake Laitinen - drums (1995-2005) Rasmus Nora - bass (1995-2005) Carl Sjöblom - keybo
