Three by Five is a Long Island based trio. The band consists of Chris Ortiz (guitar and vocals), Sean Rubin (bass and vocals), and Tom Corsaro (drums and percussion). Their sound is influenced by a vast number of genres such as rock, jazz, pop, blues and hip hop music. Sprouting two members from a local metal band, Under Surveillance, Ortiz and Corsaro, formed a project called "False Integrity" in the late 2006. This project was created in order to experiment and explore a lighter and more different genre than Under Surveillance. After showing a sample track to bassist, Rubin, the roster was complete. Starting with a couple of practices, they prepared for their first show in Rockville Centre's own Vibe Lounge (aka; 60 Below, Purple Haze, etc.). Their live performance set off a series of surprises as the unexpected sound of acoustic rock seized the audience’s attention. Upon Under Surveillance's split, False Integrity finally became a concrete band, leading to the composure of many songs and a name change to the presently known Three by Five. In August 2007, Three by Five won first place at Nova Booking's three round Battle of the Bands competition. The final round took place in one of Long Island's most renowned venues, The Crazy Donkey. The first prize award of $1,000 led to the band’s opportunity to record their debut EP, Cartographers, at Borg Studio at Ithaca College. Cartographers features many of the bands popular songs, such as an acoustic version of "S'" and "Count
