Thorn Constellation is a five-piece progressive metal band based out of Amityville, Long Island, NY with members spanning from across Long Island, the Bronx and Brooklyn. They formed in late 2010 when vocalist John Alaia (ex Year of Confession and Moth Eater) and guitarist Andrew Velez (ex Eyes Cried Red) put their minds together to form a metal band who would draw their inspiration from horror movies, classics and modern alike. They quickly teamed with drummer Dimitry "Duke" Borisov (ex Century Media artist- Scar Culture and currently in NY based rock group MP Project) and began song developing and writing. After some ups and downs involving line up changes, they added bassist Frank Fisicaro (ex singer of Lesser Being) and guitarist Danny Trapani (ex Whorelord, Praeter Morte, and The Forrest Gump Mile High Marathon) to complete their current line up. Musically, being inspired by bands such as Meshuggah, Vildhjarta, At the Gates, Gojira, Morbid Angel, Death, Dehumanized, Suffocation, Veil of Maya, The Acacia Strain, and Periphery to name a few, they continue to write songs to deliver both a brutally crushing and groove oriented version of metal music into a pulsing New York scene. All the while, still managing to appeal to a mass heavy metal audience by generating both an original and entertaining style of play.
