Thorazine Shuffle formed in 1992 in a costume hire shop in Auckland, New Zealand. Original members Chris Familton (bass), Antony McDonald (guitar), Blair Miller (drums) and Josh Hetherington (vocals/guitar) spent the next few years playing live around Auckland and released the cassette only 'Stir' ep featuring the classic student radio tracks Succumb and Nausea. Miller left to study in Dunedin and was replaced by Jules Barnett (ex Second Child). From there the group continued to play across New Zealand with multiple appearances at the Big Day Out festival and notable support slots for Beastie Boys, Helmet, Grant Lee Buffalo, Fugazi, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Red Kross. Recorded at York St Studio, the 'An Affair' cd ep and video was released in 1996 and was followed by the 'Harry' ep the following year. Between releases, Familton left the band to focus on Fontanelle, his side project with Miller, McDonald and Mikey Havoc on vocals. The band continued with Murray Hood and shortly after that, Aaron Carson on bass and their full length debut 'Your Own PR' was released in 1999. Early in the 21st century with the band reduced to a trio after the departure McDonald, continued on before the curtain fell on yet another great indie guitar band. Hetherington went onto The Cosmetics, Mcdonald, Miller and Familton continued in Sydney, Australia as Hot Tub and Barnett continued to record under various guises. Familton now plays in Sydney as The Finalists with Brett Jones (ex Nocturnal
