Thomas Desi, stage director and author from Vienna (Austria), born 1967, specialized on New Music Theater in the 1990s. He is founder and artistic director of the ZOON Musiktheater company in Vienna (Austria), and artistic co-director of Musiktheatertage Wien Festival. Desi appeared with music, performance or stage direction in festivals such as the famous Ars Electronica Linz, Earport Mainz (Germany), Sophiensäle Berlin, JUTA Düsseldorf, Mousonturm Frankfurt, Teatro Goldoni, Sasch-Hall, Totales Theater Paris, KlangArten, Teatro del Sale (Florence, Italy), Lincoln Center, The Cell (New York), Festival Wien Modern, Bregenzer Festspiele, START Salzburg, Weltkulturenmuseum Frankfurt and the Donau Festival in Krems (Austria) and organized meetings on Contemporary Music Theater, now head of the Vienna Group „Freie Musiktheater Wien“. Desi worked with Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto on the opera „Il Tramonto Senza Sole“, and directed the New York production of Morton Feldman‘s/Samuel Beckett‘s opera „Neither“ as well as music consultant in the opera „Die Soldaten“ at Ruhrtriennale 2009. He published articles on contemporary music theater, and together with Eric Salzman „Seeing the Voice Hearing the Body – The New Music Theater“ (Oxford University Press). Desi is teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and currently directing/producing a 4-year project „Appropriation of Contemporary History in Music Theater“ in Vienna, Austria presenting a series of ori
