Shirley Young-Eun Lee is The Waves. The sound is post-rock, electronic and musical. A classically trained violinist and pianist, she is instinctively electronic, experimental, and a drummer - this combination forms the explosive backbone of her tracks. Her tracks currently tend more towards traditional song structures, within which melodic elements are combined with a core of electronic rhythms. She records and mixes in a small 200 year-old stone cottage in Oxford, where she also studies Latin, Greek and Persian.
