Artist
The Winter Olympics are a dance punk, indie rock and roll band from London England. Inspired by the DIY dignity of Dischord records, the literate disco of DFA and the hits of the eighties the band marries dance rock party beats with positive punk jams drawing comparisons with LCD Soundsystem, Pulp and The Hold Steady. They are noted for their entertaining live show which mixes hands-aloft house piano, an earnest punk intensity and a boozy barroom bonhomie reminiscent of Guided by Voices. To date the band have released four singles on their own Office Rock imprint. The fifth, 'I Prefer The Early Stuff' (released on 28 May 2012) is the band's first for Exeter punk rock label Freakscene Records. The Winter Olympics' long-awaited debut album 'Profit and Loss' follows on Freakscene in October 2012.
