Tom Sims founder,lead singer and songwriter for The Wheel Within was born 20 February 1963 in Memphis, Tennessee, but he makes his home in Panama City Beach, Florida, where he has lived the last two decades. His father was into sales, and his mother was a homemaker. Tom was raised as a non-denominational Christian but did not really find his way to the Lord until he was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis in 2002. He first became interested in playing music almost as soon as he heard his first song. By age 13, he had picked up the guitar, and he has never looked back. Although Tom's ankylosing spondylitis can be debilitating, Tom never lets it get him down. His faith in the Lord gives him strength where man's medicine fails. Finally, in 2012, Tom merged his love of the Lord with his love for music, and he formed The Wheel Within.
