The Weird Noise Master (John W.Pattison) has played keyboards and produced weird sounds as the founder member of Wind of Change since 2006, the same year he wrote his first book entitled ‘A Love Affair with Cancer’. www.aloveaffairwithcancer.co.uk At the tender age of 18 he was diagnosed with a life threatening cancer and although he struggled physically and psychologically he unexpectedly survived. Eight years after his recovery his beloved daughter Donna is diagnosed with terminal leukaemia at the age of 4; now some 38 years later he has a number of health related problems as a consequence of the life saving treatment he received many years earlier and so has taken flexible retirement from his employment as a clinical nurse specialist in haematology earlier this year (although he still works 3 days each week) and is now concentrating on his first solo album. He has travelled the country following legendary Space Rockers (since 1975), Hawkwind and in 2007 he joined the band as part of the road crew for the following three national tours. He even performed on stage with the band (re-writing the lyrics to ‘Ten Seconds of Forever’ to reflect the first ten seconds of his cancer diagnosis) at Donnington in 2007. He was devastated when he lost both parents at the end of 2011 (within 3 weeks of each other) particularly feeling the loss of his father John as he had been such a huge part of his life. In April he visited ‘Wounded Knee’ in South Dakota as part of his retirement
