Hailing from Winnipeg, Canada, the Wedgewoods are a 7 piece ska band that have been playing out since 2001. With their diverse musicianship and many influences, the band isn't afraid to branch out into other styles of music without straying too far from their original ska beginnings. Featuring former members of Whole Lotta Milka and current members of the Afterbeat, they are currently collaborating with King Kong Girio on a number of songs for an upcoming project. A typical show will see the band moving from rock/ska, to reggae, to straight up rock & roll, to soul, jazz, punk, traditional ska and so on. With a full album out in 2002 and several new songs for an upcoming cd, the Wedgewoods play mostly originals but always have a good time covering songs by Hepcat, The Skatalites, Cake, The Pogues, Dance Hall Crashers, Violent Femmes, The Police, etc. The band has just come back from performing at the Victoria Ska Fest in July.
