The Washington DC's were a British beat band of the 1960s. They released a number of singles between 1965 and 1968. Their songs were also released on an August 1965 Ember Records LP, coupling tracks by The Washington DC's with early recordings of The Dave Clark Five. The group was formed by Pat Curley and Barry Fitzgerald as early as in 1959, but their first single ('Kisses Sweeter Than Wine' b/w 'Where Did You Go?') was released in 1964. The line-up y that time was: Barry Fitzgerald (vocals, guitar), Patrick Curley (lead guitar, vocals), Roger Creed (bass) and Glen Duke (drums). Curley and Creed were later replaced by Roger Saunders and Berbie Trott [Bernie McClean]. Gary Illingworth (keyboards/violin/vocals) was also a member in 1966 and 1967. Trott and Duke were replaced in 1968 by Walther Monaghan and Brian Hillman. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
